Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 1, 2026
Core guarantee: FastZip.io processes all archive files 100% inside your browser using WebAssembly. Your files are never uploaded to any server — not ours, not anyone else's. This is not a disclaimer; it is an architectural fact.
1. Who we are
FastZip.io ("we", "us") operates the website at https://fastzip.io. We provide free, browser-based archive tools (extract, create, convert, and protect ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, and other formats).
2. What data we do NOT collect
- Your files. Archive files you open or create in FastZip.io are processed entirely inside your browser's WebAssembly sandbox. They are never transmitted to any server.
- File names or contents. We have no technical ability to access what's inside an archive you process.
- Passwords. Passwords you enter to protect or unlock archives are used only within your browser tab and are immediately discarded.
3. What data we do collect
3.1 Usage analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand aggregate site usage — page views, session duration, browser/device type, and referral sources. GA4 data is anonymised; we have IP anonymisation enabled. GA4 may set cookies (see Section 5). You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
3.2 Local storage (your device only)
FastZip.io stores the following data in your browser's localStorage — on your device only, never synced to our servers:
- Processing history — file names, operation type, and timestamp of recent actions, so you can reference what you processed.
- Tier status — whether you have unlocked Pro features.
- Usage counters — byte totals used in the current billing period, to enforce free-tier limits.
You can clear this data at any time from the History panel or by clearing your browser's localStorage for this site.
3.3 Advertising (free tier)
Free-tier users may see advertisements served by Google AdSense (or a similar ad network). Ad networks may set their own cookies and collect anonymised data per their own privacy policies. Pro users see no advertisements.
3.4 Support and contact
If you contact us by email, we retain your email address and message solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not share this with third parties.
4. Cookies
FastZip.io itself does not set any first-party cookies. Third-party cookies may be set by:
- Google Analytics 4 (measurement cookies)
- Google AdSense on free-tier pages (advertising cookies)
You can block or delete these cookies through your browser settings or a browser extension such as uBlock Origin.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. The only third parties that may receive anonymised data are Google Analytics and our ad network, as described above. We do not use any other third-party tracking services.
6. Data retention
We do not store personal data on our servers because we collect none. Analytics data in Google Analytics is retained according to Google's standard retention settings (14 months by default for event data).
Data stored in your browser's localStorage has no automatic expiry. You control it and can delete it at any time.
7. Children's privacy
FastZip.io is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to address it.
8. Your rights
Since we collect no personal data on our servers, most data-subject rights (access, rectification, deletion) apply to data held locally in your browser — which you control directly. For Analytics data, you may opt out as described in Section 3.1.
If you have questions about your rights under GDPR, CCPA, or another applicable regulation, contact us at the address below.
9. Security
Because your files never leave your device, the primary security boundary is your own browser. We serve FastZip.io over HTTPS with appropriate security headers. Our server infrastructure does not store archive contents.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of FastZip.io after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
